Alie is a Wisconsin native who moved back to her home town after graduating from MIT in 2011. She lives with her fiancé Micah, who uses excuses like “classes” and “work” to get out of cooking, and her cat Tiffy, who uses the excuse that she doesn’t have opposable thumbs.
Research scientist by day, Alie is an aspiring foodie by night, delighting in fancy cooking whenever she has an opportunity. In June of 2012, in an effort to eat more ethically and sustainably, she and Micah decided to try an experiment in which they would only purchase local and free-range produce and meat for three months - with a couple of exceptions (how can anyone live without avocados??) This blog chronicles that attempt.
Alie’s other passions include science, gardening, farmers’ markets, traveling, photography, historical fiction, being outdoors, and writing. Aside from the cooking, her daily life involves dealing with her irritating co-workers, paying the bills, keeping the apartment clean, playing Fable III and WoW with Micah, watching movies on Netflix, reading novels voraciously, and going out with her friends on the weekends.
